O/O's.i need your help!
I need to find a carrier who is honest and well paying. Fed Ex is ageing out 48 ft trailer out...even though it has been rebuilt with new floors, door seals, data logger and a new $23.ooo refer. They told us that the FDA was behind this not fed ex,yea right! They are going to "give" him a new 53 ft reefer and take 5% every week out of his settlement for it.
Anyway.Rather than selling the 48ft trailer we are going to buy another truck and lease it onto a refrigerated carrier,if we can find one worth a ####! I will be driving this truck by myself,no more teams for me.
My question is. Does anyone know of any good carriers? I was told to talk to Cargill meat and see if i could get on with them. I Just want too find someone that hauls either meat or produce because i am done with this expedited freight crap!!!!
Needed,good/honest refrigerated carrier.O/O.

I don't know if they lease on from your area but Classic Carriers is a good one. They are somewhat small but big enough. Only thing I'm not sure of is if you can lease your own trailer on. I know they don't have any age restrictions on trucks. I have talked to their guys quite a bit and they all seem very happy with them. They are based out of Versailles,OH and Bloomsburg,PA.

Thanks,i will give them a call.
Sp after 88 people have viewed this only one person responded??? I guess there are very very few good companies left any more! -
hauling meat is the last thing id want to do. a say or two to get it loaded then run straight thru to try to make your appt. . then long and expensive unloads.
the last cheap ### chicken load i hauled for cargill i found out cargill now requires every box on the trl to be touched and inspected by the unloader. took 6hr and cost me $400 -
I called Cargill today and found out the the trailer can be no older then 5 years. This is me a complete ########! The trailer may be around 8 years old but in order for Fed Ex to take the trailer we had it resealed, new floors, data logger and a new reefer installed and then it had to pass 2 days worth of tests before Fed Ex would take it. Now you would think that after going through all of this that any company would be happy to have it hauling their freight....but noooooo!
But anyway.I called around to other places but nothing really of interest so i guess for right now i will keep looking -

MAy have to try your own authority. I think the rule about 5 years old is totally bogus. My old 96 tractor has been on the road every night. ZERO breakdowns. The guy next to me has a '09 that's been in the shop 14 times in 2009, and three in 2010. It's been towed in twice and all due to emissions. DPF, EGR, and computer problems.
Yup, I may a get another tractor to get a bigger clab/sleeper, BUT I WILL NEVER OWN A DPF EQUIPPED TRUCK!!!!
I'll bet your reefer is in better shape than a lot of the newer ones. -
I think that trailer is going to be a problem with any company. I know a couple of decent companies but you have to pull their trailers.

my trailer is an 01, havn't had an issue.
why do you want to go work for some big company anyways? it's called a co driver with a truck payment.
get your authority and find some produce brokers. If your unit is new then it's CA legal and most guys are begging for people to run CA right now.
You may as well do this because if you sell that trailer your going to get screwed. they will beat you up abou tthe age and it's A 48' and you'll get told how nobody can load 48's anymore.
Or I could just give ya $5k for it and call it a dayJustSonny Thanks this. -

So just to help a fella out I'll go $6,000
Seriously get your own authority and never have to worry about how old your equipment is
