Hi, I'm Arianna. Not a trucker - my Dad drives in the UK though.
I've joined The Truckers Report to see if anybody can possibly help me & my baby. He's a 2 year old border collie named Taz.
Long story short, my partner's active duty Army & deployed in October and we had Taz in kennels in Philadelphia, NY. After a visit to check he's being well kept it turns out he wasn't. His coat was yellow, he was underweight, his nails were worn too far down and he's just had to have 4 teeth taken out![]()
We've exhausted every possible option to try to get Taz from NY - the friends who have him are PCS'ing in a couple of weeks - to my inlaws in Idaho. Airlines are saying he's too big or too heavy. He weighs 58lbs but isn't a hippo. And we've been quoted between $2-5k to send him on the ground which we simply don't have
Guardian Angels for Soldiers Pets sent me to a Operation Roger to see if they can drive him in their trucks but they've been unable to help. I've even listed him on uShip.com
Do people drive that far? Would anybody know of anyone willing to let My baby hitch a lift? He's a happy go lucky & enthusiastic dog. Loves to be out & about and doesn't mind long drives. Is in perfect health and does as he's told.
If anybody can offer any help or point me in the direction of anyone who can it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
~Arianna & Taz AKA MisterFloppyEars

Sorry you've received no response. Yes, there are truckers who run from NY to ID every day. That trip (solo driver ) would probably take about 4 days. Trucks running Boston to Boise or Idaho Falls should be common. But you'd maybe have to meet them at Syracuse. It's a large favor to ask of a driver, but anyone with the means and the appreciation of the situation and ability to have a pet and loves of dogs should be able to help. Not sure how to best connect with a driver. Where in Idaho does he need to go to? Are you there in NY or ID? Maybe email someone at Doug Andrus Trucking in Idaho Falls and explain your situation and perhaps they can put a message out to any of their drivers out in New England on way back to ID??
Best wishes and hope everything works out. -
There is an organization that does just this type of thing...I will look for the name and post here.

I used to transport dogs for German Shepherd rescue a couple of years ago.
I always have one of mine in the truck with me, so no big deal really, and I have no passenger seat, so lots of room for the dig bed etc.
I rarely get out your way, although, being from England myself will try to help out
I have a name of another guy that did it too, but he normally runs from @Denver and never heard of him going to Id.
Google "rescue dog transportation" and that will bring up a few sites I have dealt with over the years.
This one looks like a good prospect too:

PM me if you need any help and I will do what I can. I will try to call the other German Shepherd guy and see if he can help too, but not too optimistic on that end.
