Oh there's plenty out there that will gladly take out the cameras if they lease with them and pay $1,400 a week for their truck.

H & M Trucking meets all of your requirements except the forced dispatch.

First, let’s get this straight, driver facing cameras are there for one reason and one reason only. The trucking company to get out of liability and pin on you incidents….also if you become a nuisance to them, they’ll start watching that camera and wait for you to do one thing and call you in and fire you.

Just one of thousands of possible examples…Let’s say you have an issue unrelated to the actual act of driving. Maybe it’s a policy issue, maybe they ripped you off on your paycheck really bad and you confronted them and you’re not letting it go. They’ll just start watching you on that camera until you push the Pandora button while driving down the road and then they’ll fire you.

The driver facing camera gives the trucking company all the leverage. As I’ve stated on this form before, if you watch anyone 24/7, you WILL Find a reason that they can be fired.

and to top it off, what the company tells you they do with those cameras and what they actually do, are two different things. They can watch you anytime, for any reason all they want. Not just when the camera gets set off. They could be sitting at home at 10 PM eating popcorn in bed while watching you on their big screen TV. Many companies put hidden microphones in the trucks as well. Once you sign those employment documents giving them consent, that’s usually assumed or included in the fine print.

I drive for a company with driver facing cameras. So I know, I sound like a bit of a hypocrite. But I literally mentally just block it out and forget it’s there. I go about my day and my driving as usual. My four year perfect record speaks for itself. But in the back of my mind I always know they’re watching and listening. Lol

Negotiating out of driver facing cameras? The title of this thread is a joke. I'm not in favor of driver facing cameras anymore than the next guy, but why do you think you deserve concessions over everyone else working there?

Nope not doing it, don't want my company to watch and hear me sing to Brittany Spears.
That's a deal breaker for me.

That's business, you negotiate and work your angle to ensure your success and survival. Yes it's unfortunate for the drivers who didn't stand up or question company policy or push for things to be in their favor. Use any leverage you got, this is a cold cut throat industry.

That's business? That's just ridiculous. You go on like you're bigger than the company. Like the company is going to make any more money by hiring you. I can't understand why truck drivers think this goes like free agency in professional sports. I see it right now. "Look at my stats!" I've hot 3 years experience, driven 450,000 miles and visited 28 major cities. In fact at my last company I was driver of the month. In order for you to acquire my services, I need you to do pay me X. I also need you to accommodate Y. While you're at it, during orientation, I stay at Z hotel only." Come on man.

Second, drivers don't question company policy because it's their business. They can run it however they want to as long as they don't break the law. Hate to break it to you, but you alone ain't gonna change a thing. Drivers who really want to see change gotta do it collectively. This sounds like those college grads who think they have all this leverage because they have a degree lol. It's really laughable. Why don't you just find another company to work for?

Company can run their business any way they want. I run my life the way I want. I drove for a good company for years, the camera got installed in the truck, I turned in my notice. No drama, They wanted them, I didn't, so we parted ways. Went to a 6 truck family business and never looked back, life got better.

I upvoted your post in principle. But in reality I need more than 25 CPM raise for a driver camera. I did the math and I start considering it at 40 CPM, and even with that I’m not sure I’d take it.

    Absolutely not worth it.

And I disagree with you on it being a good company otherwise. To me any company that uses them is irredeemable.
