Hey folks... Just passed the test and picked up my CDL A yesterday.. I was offered a job at Swift and waiting for the word back for an orientation date. I keep hearing that NETTTS does nothing for students for work finding and such... My personal experience with that was nothing terrible... Main issues was finding the time some days to get in there and sometimes you could not get in because they were busy but they do try to see everyone when they can... They placed a few calls for me and directed me in a good direction.. Training wise.. I can say nothing bad about the instructors...I was never yelled at, talked down to, etc.... Was told several times that hard work pays off...it does !!! I drove over an hour and a half one way, every day to do this and I am glad I did..
I would recommend the Somers, CT campus to anyone interested in a career in this area... If you put forth the effort and not act like a spoiled brat or a jerk then you should do fine !!!!

Awesome to hear you got a job. Swift is a place I'd be interested in applying for.

I'm starting classes on April 11th (I do believe...).

It has been three weeks since your post. How goes things?

I'd be interested in hearing why you chose Swift?

    # Brad.....school is gonna have its UPS and downs..remember that you have to work to get that license and don't be afraid to ask questions.....things are going well ....had my first experience in winter driving with and without a loaded trailer ...fun, fun but no big deal...truck stops are a blast..met a lot of good truckers and didn't get sour of crap for having difficulty blind side backing...listen to the experienced truckers, they want a safe road as much as us newbies....
    # Elendil.....I choose Swift because they were more honest with me and want me to be successful for them and myself...I talked with drivers and former drivers of a lot of companies before and Swift seemed to fit....maybe gonna look into others in a few years but I'd like to stay here for awhile....I would apply but just make sure that whatever company you choose will be right for YOU....do your research...
I'll be on more often hopefully now that we can run teams since I have the hours of service and drive time in......one last piece,....keep a level head....you will get cut off a lot and the four wheelers along with trucks will do some sprang things ..just keep you distance, each your mirrors .. Hope this helped...Keep the dirty side down and the shiney side up. !!!!!

    BBradUMA Thanks this.
