Aw, come on. Maybe in your experience. I regularly got into 8 mpg territory on a '96 Series 60 in an International, and it sit well into 7 mpg for it's life time average. I also had an N-14 that had a lifetime average at right around 7 mpg in a FLD. They have been capable of good mpg numbers for a long time, and no, you did not have to drive like grandma everywhere. The DDEC IV Detroit reman in my glider has a lifetime average well into 7 mpg. In summertime, I love seeing those 8 mpg numbers frequently.

And there are a lot of folks that do better than I do. I think it really sticks in some folk's craw that they haven't figured out how to pull those kind of numbers off so they want to claim that everyone else is full of sheep dip.

No our company does a quarter fuel mileage bonus. It compiles our fuel mileage every week pulled from the Qualcomm and after 3 months it averages out and that's our fuel bonus. Most guys are in our fleet are over 6 consistently (me included) but our top guys are getting close to 10. So yes it can be done. They drive about 55-60 and almost never idle. We are tankers with pto pumps too so we have to idle to use our pumps.

Can you tell me how there would be a difference of 4MPG between your fleet trucks?? Once again that just doesn't add up, but what ever......

Well, my Series 60 DDEC IV 12.7 putting down 515 hp is easily popping 7+ mpg running at 1425-1475 RPM that I run which has me in the 65 mph area, except on those days that it is -20F and I am dealing with a 25-30 mph cross wind with 46K in the box. Sure, then it rides in the 6 mpg arena at those times. And the mid 7 mpg average on mine is based on pump to pump numbers. I do not have a display on my dash that shows instant or average mpg the truck is getting, so that argument is moot. No, I am not running light every where. My average load in the box is just shy of 40K. Lots of bulk commodity loads and steel.

Look, just because you have never experienced mpg numbers that many others can pull off speaks more to your driving techniques than that they are out and out lying, as you seem to imply. If you are paying the fuel bills, I sympathize with what are missing out of your wallet getting such lousy mpg. There is hardly a person on this entire forum that has not seen for themselves many trucks and drivers getting 7+ mpg. It is not an uncommon occurrence.

Really?? I run with Detroit's all the time, pulling the same equipment, I'm always heaver then them because the truck is 2 ton heaver, they don't get any better mileage than me.. O and they are all pre emission Detroit 470s, one 379, one freightliner Columbia type, other is a t600, O another question for yea, is it 7+mpg or 8+ mpg or 10mpg, cause there's a big difference, 7+ yea I can see that, but all these other clams are BS...
