Day two. Show up to class half the people didn't show up, go do agility test, sit in line for 5hrs for physical.
Basically run around like a chicken with your head cut off the whole day.
Got started on my cbts almost done with them when they closed the lab last night only had 4 left.
Waiting on paperwork to be faxed to be clear for medical. -
@nickto21
He's going to do whatever suits his situation best.
He has successfull experience on both company & lease sides. He will decide what's best, himself.
One person's experience does not necessarily translate to another, due to differences in experience, business acumen, running habits & circumstance.
He has proven experience, & HE knows what he is doing. He is not a newbie.
I'm not a fan of leasing, myself. But, one shoe does not fit everyone. It can & does work for those that actually know exactly what they are getting into & properly run the business.Broshears Thanks this. -
Ok. Thanks for filling me in.

Day 3:
Attended more classes for flatbed dispatch operations finish my last few cbts, attended the log class, played whack a mole with the Drs office and calling a Dr back at home 4 different times for them to fax information over that they said they faxed yesterday. Told them I'm not getting off of the phone till it's faxed, 3 seconds later it's coming through kind of sad took over 4 times to get it done. Medical is cleared will get my card tomorrow.
Did my simulator, passed. Basically the day in between classes and or after was spent doing nonething besides talking to a few of the other flatbedders here and trying to avoid the rain.
Tomorrow is busy day kind of, class at 0700 for benefits than class later on after that for certifications aka badge, hand out med cards and forms, and all that good stuff then after that my orientation is done. Will of course make a post tomorrow of what all happened
Should be rolling out with my trainer more than likely Saturday possibly Friday.
Good night y'all I'm tired headed to bed. -
Nickto21,
I've been with prime prior has both company and lease did good on both sides.
I'm not sure which route I plan on taking at this time leaning more towards lease as it's suites mine and my family needs.
As I tell everyone lease works for some and it doesn't for others just like company works for some and others it doesnt.
I'll decide at the end of my training. But going around saying just don't sign a lease isn't beneficial to anyone in my opinion.
You say just speaking from experience but you never said why the lease didn't work for you or why you don't recommend it. If you were to continue making this post on people's threads i would suggest you actually explain why you say that.
Im aware that I'll be paying more for the truck and everything else etc. I've leased with prime before. As I said above it works for some and others it doesn't.
It all depends on how the person runs their truck and business, the relationship with the fleet manager and everything else.

Orientation is done. Met my fleet manager today, log auditor etc.

Thanks for your information here. Like yourself, I left Prime at the end of 2015, and -- like yourself -- I'm going back to them as a rehire at the end of June. I also have my trainer lined up, and am just waiting for him to be free so I can go back out with him. I'll be doing the rehire orientation in Pittston, and I'll be driving on the Olney account.

So a tad bit of an update. Things been going good been running a lot out West(Utah, Nevada, Cali etc) got screwed over by a shipper in Cali.
Currently sitting doing a 34 at the Iowa 80 Truck stop in
Iowa!
After orientation things have been going good I have already done 6k miles of my 15k should be done before June trainer thinks. I'm taking time off the First weekend of June for family camping trip that was planned well ahead of my coming to prime, and trainer plans on taking first week of June off to see his family and avoid the DOT week.
I'm enjoying the flatbed life so far I haven't had any difficult loads yet like coils or anything and so far out of the few loads we had to tarp there has been a machine to lay our tarps out for us all we have to do is adjust them and strap them down. I hate driving at night though can't see straps or anything unless a car comes by and I'm paranoid that ones going to break or come loose and I wont know until its to late so i make it a habit to check every single time I stop.FullMetalJacket Thanks this.
