We are all adults here are we not? Let's keep this civil no need to call others names, or bash another company.

Load securement gets easier with time. After awhile you learn
what works and what doesn't. Main thing is to pay attention to
detail and take the time to do it right the first time. My advice is,
put the phone down and do your job. I see a lot of guys trying
to talk and work; that is when mistakes are made.
I found that it takes a little while to get used to the truck too.
Where I keep my chains, and straps. Seemed I would always end
up with some shorter chains and straps. Course I would always
pull out the short chain when I needed the longer one......after
awhile I learned to keep the shorter chain at one end on the rack
and the longer one at the other. With time you will learn a lot of little
tricks that make life easier....good luck. -
Got my system down for the most part and while I'm securing etc only time I have my phone out is I'll take a picture and send it to a friend of mine who's a flatbedder and he lets me know if there's anything I may have overlooked other than that my attention is on securing.
I tend to usually over secure and throw more straps then what is necessary but how I see if it is if I have to question wether or not it is safe I'll put more on.
Chains I've only had a few chains loads.
So far I'm loving it, love the extra work, new places and things and for the most part how quick we are in and out in places.
I've found my self slowly re arranging my stuff as I'm putting it back up after using it to better suite me. Only thing I need to do is find a good home for my bungees I will not hang anything off the back of my rack like some drivers so that's out of the question.FullMetalJacket Thanks this. -
No, the whole trick to local is work for a good LTL company.
-
I ended up doing exactly the above, but discovered very quickly that I was done with OTR trucking -- I have nothing but positive things to say about Prime, I was just done with it. I drove for a local company for a few months and discovered -- like you -- that the pay was awful. I was very fortunate and once again obtained a teaching job at a high school in a good district, so I've pretty much left trucking behind. I am keeping my CDL, though...one never knows when you may need it.
