New and experienced

I have as yet not seen a thread on this, perhaps i am not in the right spot, but i have a question:
I myself have recently graduated from a truck driving academy, my friend has been driving otr for at least 6 years now, and we would like to team. Anyone have any ideas as to how that would work out with the oreintation/training periods that most all companies have? Is that something that only the companies we have been investigating into can answer? Has anyone else been in this situation, and if so how was it dealt with?
The reasons i ask is 1)obviously i am new, 2)the company he currently works for is not so hot and 3)he asked to team, so as i have no clue and i have been here looking for information (as well as other places) in my quest to make an informed decision before i leap, any information and/or experience in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
