Look, if you are paranoid about this, then keep your emissions stuff going. I had a 2006 ISX that got the EGR effectively deleted even before the engine warranty had run out. Cummins didn't seem to mind, and I liked the performance and fuel economy. Had a couple of engine warranty claims (not related to emissions), and did not have any denials of warranty by Cummins. I realize, like most things, people have to live in their own comfort level. Some have no problem messing with stuff, others are "by the book" type of folks. I never stated anyone had to do anything. I only dug up the standard from the EPA themselves and put it out there. Do as you see fit.

For me, now, this is all a non issue. I have a pre-egr Detroit in a 2013 truck and emissions is not even on the radar. That was my solution to the problem. If I had an emissions equipped truck, then I would definately change things if the engine was at end of useful life for compliance according to the EPA.
