I have been floating around this site for a while now, finally decided to join up.
I attended a CDL school from a trucking company (to be disclosed later) and was hired on with them. Later on I will post my issues and hope someone can give some advice, I don't think the "welcome" section is the right place.
Anyway I have wanted to be in this business for about 40 years and decided to make it my new career (yes I am an old guy). I have retired from my profession and took the step into trucking because things occurred that would allow me to get in. Kids are gone, house is paid for, unfortunately my wife of 43 years passed away recently so I wanted to do something I always wanted to do (I know it sounds horrible and selfish but what else should I do, sit around whining? That's not my style).
So now I look forward to read and post "legally" and I will still be lurking around the site, no telling where I may show up!

Hope all works out for you. Trucking can be crappy for some in the first year, but, knowing this, you can use it to your advantage. Once you get past the "first" learning curve, it gets better. Good luck.

First of all... I'm deeply sorry about the loss of your wife.
I'd be lost without my Rock and I don't know what I'd do.

    Welcome !
If you have Qs... you'll get answers here from seasoned pros that really want to help you learn, or get you out of a pinch.
You'll normally get responses pretty quickly almost any time of day for a legit question.
This is a tough biz... it's not for the faint hearted.
It's not "touring the country" as so many see it as.
It may be a really great next chapter in your life. You definitely don't need to be just sitting around.
You'll find that trucking, if done right, requires some brains.

It can be done on many levels.

You can hand an idiot a set of keys and he can ruin you financially...
or, you can get someone that uses their noggin' and makes intelligent decisions that are don't leave a stream of $20 bills flowing behind the truck.
    It's that simple.

I have a feeling you could easily be in that 2nd category once your green has worn off.

    That's when TRUCKERS are born.

    Welcome.

    Jonrulerofearth Thanks this.
