A lot of brokers say they can't use you because you don't meet their "criteria". What and how did you manage to book your first load?

OOIDA has some load boards and information on brokers.

Farm2Fleet may set you up on some loads.

    What criteria they mention specifically?

    New authority?

No DOT inspection on record yet?

    Also small or big brokerages?

So far, I have only had 1 broker tell me that they required the authority to be active for 6 months before they would load me. Havent had any other problems.

Most larger brokers have a criteria check list that you must meet b4 you pull for them. Smaller brokers will give you a shout if they feel comfortable with you. I've used first time o/o before and some I have not. All depends on the feeling I get from them over the phone or in person. As well as, how hard and important the run is.

Had to be in business for one year and have a minimum of 5 trucks.. This was the first Broker that Mentioned anything.. The other 3 were unable to come to a reasonable rate. $4800 on a 2800 mile run, no thanks and 3700 on a 1700 mile run. It is a new authority but have dealt with brokers before and I know if I take a 1.60 per mile run I will not be happy

I see, so it is more about money.

For sure track record with every brokerage, especially big ones, helps.Thats why TQL ask about MC and CH Robinson about their T#.

Unfortunately some days You have sit whole day on the phone to get anything decent, not even great.

    Dry van market?

Yeah. Broker claimed she usually moves the load for 4400 and has 4 trucks already moving it for that price.. That's $1.57 a mile how can anyone afford to stay in business at that price kills me. Even when we got loads from brokers while leased onto a mega we got nothing less than 1.95$ a mile.
