Any advice for a newly running authority looking for a dedicated route. Looking to run anywhere across the south from TX to GA and FL. Newly rebuilt engine and driver with 30 years+ experience.

Well maybe JB Hunt has something for you. When I filed for operating authority I got phone calls from them asking me if I wanted to work for them, they do a lot of dedicated stuff so maybe they have an account that needs trailers shuttled from one plant to another.

i would suggest hiring the best dam salesperson you can find----the type that can steal your underwear from you and sell it back to you! And there are people like that who exist.

It's good about the rebuilt engine and driver and all that, but forget about that for now.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.

I recently have got my own authority also and am based out of Texas. Trying 2 figure out best trailer 2 purchase or rent till I have steady customers or do power only. Let me know if you find anything and I will do the same. Or if any of you proven and successful drivers out there have advice I'm all ears for any wisdom.
    Thanks

i'm telling ya---its SALES. Sure it's good to have top equipment, but none of that means jack if you ain't got the customers.

    LGarrison and Mike2633 Thank this.

Yes I agree with you. I ran a car dealership for 13 years before getting back on the road and I totally get it. Any leads, or suggestions as 2 where 2 get could loads, or brokers? Even thinking of doing power only with some of the bigger companys

Not entirely sure how either of these fits in LTL forum, unless you're looking to lease on with UPS or one of the other LTL's that takes on O/O's.
