Joe, google "Rules Circular (Operating Procedures)" and an interesting TTR thread talking about this will pop up. At my last company we had an agreement like this in place with TQL after having been burned by them so many times on layovers, TONU, and detention. Our detention rate on everything with them was $75 an hour. Sometimes they would try and sneak in wording in the rate confirmation to supersede our rules circular but all you had to do was bring it to their attention that was an unacceptable deal breaker. They would either change it to your rules circular, or you would agree to their terms on that particular load, or you would not do the load period.

For all of you new entrants. In current market conditions anyone that doesn't want to load your truck because your MC is too new - you aren't missing anything and don't want their load anyway. It'll be cheap for sure. Most companies with these silly "must have been in business x months" rules will gladly waive them when they can't find a truck. In that case you should get a fair rate. If not reject their offer until they come to reason. Brokers can't find trucks in just about any segment here lately. The ball is in your court. Good luck.

Thanks so much. I'm currently able to book out 2-3 loads at a time for my husband which has increased our overall revenue vs. using the companies coordinator but i'm still learning.

Brokers not taking a relatively fresh truck owned by a business not in 6 months or however short is just like treating a newbie fresh out of School with a CDL. You cannot run a industry this way. That will have to change.

We're all free to pick and choose who we work with for whatever reason. Nothing wrong with that.

Everyone starts the same, but think they should start at the top. You got to work your way up.

I have to give a shout for your avatar picture. I love it. Very much.

A though occurred to me tonight that may or may not be that simple.. how about a broker's license and authority to order up freight? In addition to being a trucking company?

    Would that work?

    ajohnson123 Thanks this.

Everyone starts somewhere... TQL will work with you and lots of other brokers. Don't let that deter you.

    ajohnson123 Thanks this.

Totally understandable, just researching before we begin (knowledge is power)
