Graduated from Humber in November as well. I'm not in the GTA but there are lots of opportunities on Indeed, i've had great results there, employers reached out to about 25-30% of the jobs that I applied for.

Only thing I can tell you right now is a lot of the big carriers are fighting tooth and nail for freight and companies like kraft are demanding carriers drop their rates or they will use someone else . Some carriers are apparently even hauling freight for a loss just to get work . It’s not a great time to get into trucking especially if it’s dry van or reefer work . Kriska just sent out a message today about the low freight volumes as we have lost a bunch of work to cheaper carriers like pride, charger and bison and drivers are crying making no money

We always hire this time of year. Late spring and summer are our busiest times.

Kraft in GTA a few years ago always took your keys in winter due to one of their Cheap freight haulers leaving the dock and driving up to the gate with a furious fork lift driver in the back.. you get what you pay for lol

Can’t say i blame them with what we have for drivers now . I was at the lowe’s warehouse in milton tuesday and you have to drop your trailer in a designated spot park over by shipping/receiving and give them your keys and paper work . Then they say wait in your truck and the shunt driver will bring your trailer once it’s mt . I was a little cold but i’m glad it’s not winter

I seen a ton of stuff like that in the US and Vancouver. Thankfully none in Alberta (yet), most big places won’t let anyone but their shunts, put dropped trailers in doors now tho (Walmart, Weston’s, Rona, Lowes, Home Depot, Kraft). Other places like Hood Packaging, will make everyone blind side off the street, past a power pole, between 2 trailers in a covered dock lol.
