Hello there Im Niels and Im a 22 year old student management and car electronics on the university.
For some it seems strange that we have a combination of management and technical study combined. Well only a small part really get to work on R&D for companies like DAF/Paccar.
An other small part is getting a technical support role that supports a dealer network having to deal with the more complicated problems.
And by far the biggest part of us I going to run a workshop so some management skills will be handy I think.
When I was young I wanted to be a truck driver but for medical rezones Im not able to get my drivers license.
Im planning to come over next summer the gain working experience on semi trucks.
Would be interesting to see how things are done on the other side of the great lake as I mainly know European trucks and there electronic systems.
Im hoping to find loads of information on this forum and maybe some help in finding a workplace.
My current project:
Im working on an engine test system just to run the engine and test gearboxes when its not in the vehicle. All sound easy but these European truck wont even start if there is no Can present and have an electronic key lock system so Im working on a complete different level of ECU tuning you could say finding all the things you dont need like ABS systems and so on.
Hobbys. Well if I can find the time I like to go to truck races events and semi truckpulling with is popular in Holland as well.
I can also spend many hours on YouTube looking at truck racing videos for Canada and the US, man this is insane and like to go there as well during my stay.
To get some idea this is what truckpulling is over in the Netherlands.

This is one of my local favorite semis as they are the only non factory team running an electronic controlled engine and doing some insane things with fuel injection being the first to win a champion ever running a electronic controlled engine ending up second place in the championship this year. Would be interesting to know what level of ECU tuning is possible in the US and Canada? Load more to read here on this forum think?
