I'd be curious to see any stats that show that. Not saying it isn't true but I can easily see how the opposite could occur.

Aggressive driving due to time constraints is a possibility. Driving without proper sleep, due to having to shutdown before being tired, spending half the 10 hour break wide awake and then running on little sleep in order to make an appointment is another possibility. And many other reasons I'm sure could be used as an excuse.

However, safe driving is a mindset IMO and whether on eld or paper there is ample opportunity for those of the wrong mindset to mess up. I don't see them making a huge difference safety wise, either by increasing or decreasing.

That said the real problem is the HOS and though I don't look forward to being kept honest I don't foresee any real issues. I expect a little chaos at first but don't think it will take long to adjust.

Everyone's situation is different though and I know it will have a negative impact on some who are safe drivers.

I agree about the HOS. I miss the days we could run 5 on and 5 off. IMO teams shouldn't have to comply with HOS other than the 70 hour rule. The half hour mandatory "break" is BS too.

The ATA is composed of a bunch of bottom-feeding, wage-stealing, lying POS companies. If they cared about safety they would pay enough to attract good drivers and would not have to import drivers from the Third World that can't even read English. The safety benefits are dubious but the competitive advantage they will gain is real. I would love to see the bunch go out of business. The only way to get true safety in this industry is to start paying drivers by the hour for every hour that they work.

Are there morons out there who drive when they shouldn't? Sure. But to think that one cookie cutter set of inflexible rules will work for every driver, company and facet of the transportation industry is sheer stupidity. ELDs enforce that stupidity.

Of course they will. They are the biggest on-duty time cheaters in the industry, and will fight tooth and nail to keep the two year advantage they've baked into the mandate.

I hope they keep the current mandate in effect. While they're at it, do away with the ridiculous two year AOBR exemption. In fact, just do away with any exemption. In for a penny, in for a pound.

It's clear that thousands of law enforcement agencies and 10's of thousands of diesel cops are already trained and prepared to use their new enforcement tool, said no industry authority ever.

I'm not against ELD but it doesn't guarantee less happens on the road. In my view drivers will be more hyper to run maximum miles on maximum speed within 11hours.

I don't think we will get 2 more years of paper logs. Since all the big companies including AT&T has invested multimillion $$$ into ELD and they cant put their profit on hold for another 2 years. Anyway I'm using KeepTruckin app soon we hear the decision I'll get my ELD.

I just emailed the Honorable Barry Loudermilk (R) GA11 requesting his support. The submissive types don't seem to mind being pushed around by big gov but I don't like it
