I agree 100%. It's just too far fetched to believe people who choose a career where they spend most of their day in solitude would object to being on camera at all times for any reason other than they are not being safe. :|

The point is that they are NOT "on camera" at all times. Nobody is watching, and whatever you did ten seconds ago is lost forever.

We are being tracked 24/7 by multiple sources. If you have an Android phone, go to google/com/dashboard and check out Location History. I know that Apple keeps similar data for Iphone users.

The phone company, of course, knows all your texts and your phone calls. Involved in a fatal accident? Cell phone records are one of the first things checked.

We had these same cameras at my last job. People grumbled for the first week or so, then they realized that they were no big deal.

Yeah, you just keep drinking that Kool-Aid and don't presume to think for anyone but yourself.

    Kool-Aid, no thanks.

Did you miss the sarcasm or do actually want a driver facing cam?

    HousTank Thanks this.

My apologies since YES, I did miss the sarcasm. Now that I'm clued in I see where you're going.

I support outward cams but I'm gagging on the one inside. It will be the final straw in a slow progression of things going on with too much regularity for me to stay with Swift much longer. I've already started talking with other companies. With 4 years of flawless OTR performance I now have some leverage in choosing my next employer. I'm only talking to Tank companies hauling dedicated regional and companies that haul their own freight regional. No more general freight going Lord knows where for weeks at a time.

And they wont have a cam staring at me and listening to me 24/7.

I am glade you embrace 1984 I will not it's that simple. I will not have a camera staring at my face about 4 ft away. oh and please stop with the ones that complain are KNOWING they are doing something wrong I have over 1.25 million safe miles with swift. It's all ways on it's all ways recording maybe not saving that 20sec but it's still recording away as soon as camera gets installed in this truck I am retiring from trucking. Maybe you like a camera in your face 4 to 5ft away 8 to 10 hours a day watching you I guess it's no big deal to you...... It always start small most likely this will start a chain reaction I see the writing on the wall within 4 to 6 years they will be mandatory in big trucks that's why I'm retiring from trucking

The driver is always attacked by ambulance chasers and by people who can do no wrong. Regardless of fault. You bring up a good point instead of an investment that no one likes since swift is self insured why not hire there own adjustors to keep track of charges. Sounds much cheaper then outfitting 18k trucks with additional equipment plus a monthly fee. Because lets face it we do not call them accidents because we did it on purpose.Cameras or not they will continue to happen. The only thing this system brings to the table is the youtube event. Like the generals watching camera guided missiles in a war now we can all watch the action happen.

That's Great I am glad you had a good experience with them at your last company. Why is your last company your last company and not your current company if you don't mind me asking?

Because they just announced in the trades magazines that they are installing these units in ALL of their trucks. They are still considering if they will install these units in lease trucks and OO units.
