Hey Blue_Knight, thanks for starting this thread and all of the information. I have two weeks left in my CDL school and I'm looking very hard at McElroy. One question for you, at what point did you apply with them? Were you still in school, or already out? I'm trying to get the jump on any applications but I'm not sure if they want me already licensed before talking to me. Oh yeah, one other question, just coming out of school would I be considered a company driver or a student driver? Their website lists both and I'm not sure which I'd be. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I applied my last week of school and got hired. Out of school you are a student driver with any company. Once you complete training you are a company driver.

So what all do you have in your truck? Just wondering what you can plug into one of those plug in inverters? Do you have a regular TV or did you have to get a 12v one? I assume no microwave. Just wondering how much cooking and stuff you can do in the truck? Don't want to be stuck eating truck stop slop everyday. lol. BTW, thanks for the thread. All this info really helps us novices make an intelligent decision about our careers.

I use an inverter for a laptop computer which I also use for TV. I have a Coleman 12V cooler that I keep drinks and sandwich stuff in. I don't cook in the truck so no need for a MW.

The company has been good so far. When I told my manager that I couldn't make it he told me to just deliver it Monday. So I went home and was there by 11AM Friday. I left today about 3 PM and just stopped in Jeasup MD. I will make the delivery in the korning.

Blue_Knight thanks for all the post. You have been keeping up to date on the time line. I am thinking about applying there as a back up. Currently scheduled for Swift orientation on Monday but not 100% about the route I am being assigned. It is a Dollar Tree account and I have heard nothing good about it.

Hey Blue_Knight I have been reading your thread for awhile now. I think it is very informative. My husband also works for Mcelroy. Other than him not liking going into Texas,(lol) he loves working for them. The week you were in Cuba,AL getting your new truck, he was also there. Maybe you guys have meet. His name is John.
