For tanker they say 2 to 4 weeks. As long as you and the trainer are comfortable, then why not? Too long and you are a team slave to your trainer.

As long as you know what you are doing, all the trainer has to do is fine tune your driving and show you how to use the qualcomm. I feel like anything more is just too much handholding.

Back in '91 the small company I hired on with cut me loose right from school. No Qualcomm, No cell phone, no internet, And I was just a dumb kid... It can be done for sure.

    Trial by fire lol.

If you are like me, a lot of the anxiety will disappear when you are in the truck by yourself and you can concentrate on learning to drive instead of trying to please a trainer.

Learn by doing... I've always done best that way. A big concern for me is icy mountain highways....SLOW...

I was told to be prepared for 2 weeks with the trainer. The second week being as needed, I'm now seeing? Man I hope we get SOME snow. Just to get some sort of idea whats its like under load.

All the better I guess. That much sooner getting my truck and getting miles. Although what they pay for training is enough to keep me afloat til I'm turned loose on america!!!!:biggrin_255:

Not sure about in New York but in Illinois the trailers are empty. You are not allowed to have weight in them.

So once you start driving for a company its all new again pulling a load vs a empty trailor how much different does the truck handle vs learning how to drive with a empty trailor..
