Hey guys, Bill here. Well another 8 hour drive down, another 8 hour tomorrow. This is a lot to take in at the beginning, after the first 4 hr road drive I was tired, then had a 30 minute break, then out another 4 hours in downtown. Another 8 tomorrow. Still have to all get together...

That sounds good to me. It looks like Sat. after 4:30 looks to be the time when we are all free. It looks like I have a drive with you on the range that day until 4:30 too.

Welcome to the forum. If you decide driving isn't for you, you can always look into being a salesman or broker for a trucking company or independent agency. It's a good living that's rewarding, and with you having your CDL, you have a leg up on many others.

sent Robert a private message here....I agree with him. Saturday sounds good for. Good luck out the today -
Did another 4 hour drive today....all backing I think of it like taking free throw practice...over and over and over again. Little by little my pea brain is learning. My road test is just 3 days away....I feel like I'll be ready. More backing tomorrow...

I keep my self controlled pretty well. I've been with this particular instructor for all but one of my drives. He's a fairly new instructor, but has been a driver for many years. One of the first things he tells everybody is how good he is, and he knows he's ####y, but he has a right to be...cuz he's a good driver. so, for 9 drives I"ve listened to this guy brag about his ability. I've tried to learn as I've listened to him talk to his ex wife, his girl friend and his other employer on the phone for at least half of my drive time. I've asked for pointers on driving technique, and have basic been told to just do it. The guy doesn't know how to teach, and he really hates his job. He tells me that every time we're in the truck together. He doesn't want to be there, the school doesn't pay him enough, we hurry thru the steps and miles so he can finish early ...etc etc. I borrowed over $5,000 to attend school. I want to learn... I don't mind being reprimanded if it will help me learn. Today, I was basically called a liar. I was being tested, and told to do a maneuver that had never been shown to me. I started to do it, but was belittled because ... I don't know what. I lost it. I feel like I'm getting the shaft here. I need to learn to drive, I"m sorry you don't want to be here...that's not my problem. This is not high school...it's not the military...this is a business. I paid for a product.... He is the worst teacher I have ever had. If he just didn't know how..that's one thing, but he covers his inability with contempt and arrogance. I'll get thru this... but I feel sorry for the people coming behind me.

Good luck tomorrow Marcus!
(You are taking your test correct? you said 12.5.11)
I hope you say something to the school re: this instructer. It's not fair that you paid that much money and are NOT getting the experience and teaching you paid for! The whole point is to get you ready to take your test. IF the instructer is NOT doing his job of educating you then the school NEEDS to know or as you said, others behind you will suffer too.Wedge Thanks this. -
Try not to get discouraged even though its hard not too under the circumstances and believe me, I know. Just try and get threw this and when its all over with, you can look back and laugh and just think, you will never have to see this place or the people associated with it ever again. Stay calm and cool, study hard and ask for pointers from John tomorrow and you should cruise threw it! Good luck!!
Oh, I sent you a PM. Let me know if you got it. -
Sorry to hear that man. We were told quite clearly to go to a particular instructor with any problems. If it wasnt handled to our satisfaction we were also given the business card with #'s of the Director of the school.
Also , after successful completion of the test we were asked to fill out a survey. This is your chance to help this guy out.
At my school , we had to make up for Turkey day, so they brought us in on the saturday before to make it up. I too had a newbie instructor that day. HE made that clear. He hadn't developed his teaching style yet and it took me a second to get my lack of understanding across . Once I did though this guy was more than willing to try to tell me what I needed to know.
Any rate , good luck tomorrow. Rememebr to breath and think your moves through on backing BEFORE you start. Thats where I screwed up. Was counting on getting paralell as the third skill and got 90 alley docking instead.
The one I'm weakest at and I know will need to use out there.
