New career with southeast carriers from start to finish

I am sitting here at a truckstop in Houston doing a
34 hr restart. I cant deliver my 1st stop till Monday
morning. It makes me realize how stupid this restart is now. Cant move the truck until 0500am so I can hit the highway just in time for rush hour.
More proof the DOT is run by a bunch of desk jockeys that know absolutely nothing about truck
driving, traffic patterns or much of anything else.

 

Never.. it is here to stay ...

 

I just read the other day that they are going to do
away with the restart completely. Only reason it.wasn't revoked was some senate committee wouldn't fund some thing attached to the bill.
That Wal Mart driver that was involved in that
Tracy Morgan wreck up in NJ is part of it.

 

Now... i can deal with doing away with it completely but not back the way it was.

 

Next..i wish they would do away with the 14 hour clock and allow us to split sleeper the way we used to...that was much better.. even if they cut driving time to 10hrs would be ok... i rarely go over 10 anyway.

 

I didnt really care for that because often times it would set you up to start driving at night

 

Well the last two weeks here have been pretty lousy for me as far as miles go. I am probably going to take a few weeks off next time I go thru
the terminal. I have to go back to Virginia anyway
and take care of some business concerning my
deceased fathers estate. Might as well take care
of few other things while I am off. I am not the kind of driver that likes hanging out at the TA.
I have better things to waste my time on.

 

It seems the 4th really disrupted our freight quite a bit. I took off over the holiday which appears to have been a good idea and now that i am back things seem to be picking back up...

headed to houston for tomorrow and then will see whats next..
