Wow that's pretty good! Can't complain about the pulling power. Wonder why someone mentioned topping it at 20 mph? Maybe they were in a SEC Cascadia.
I can tell you the hamster under the hood of my T680 was only doing 40 when I topped Fancy Gap today, and I only had 30k in the box.

I didn't say 20 mph up Monteagle. I never said anything about that mountain. There are a lot steeper mountains to go up then Monteagle. It's not that steep of a grade at all. That is nothing but a little hill compared to some of the mountains I've had to go up driving for SEC.

Try going up Highway 111 north bound just past Dunlap TN, on your way up to Gordonsville TN, with 45,000 lbs of paper roll stock. You won't pull that in 8th gear at 50 mph. Your lucky if you can pull that grade at 20 mph in any truck with a heavy load.

I never said you did. There was someone who did say that, he was ragging on SEC claiming his truck was a dog. We all know the real mountains are out west. Cabbage, Donner, going over Vail Pass aint no joke either.
I've been reading all the posts on SEC. So I know I read it on one of the threads. Probably from last year.Last edited: Jun 27, 2015

I remember the guy your talking about. He only lasted at SEC for about three weeks. The people in dispatch told he was a real jerk. Some drivers would b#### and complain if the hangman didn't use a new rope to hang them with These Cascadias with a Detroit engine will pull a hill just fine. They are comparable to anything else I've ever driven. Not the best or the worst. I've put over 100,000 miles on these new Detroit's. Only problem I ever had with one was last summer when the PILOT in. NEW BRAUNFELS TX, sold me a about 100 gallons of water last summer and destroyed the entire fuel system. They charged PILOT $12,895 just for that.

Wonder how busy they will be when Goodman closes the plants in Fayetteville and Dayton,Tn. Big G just moved 60 empty trailers to stage in Houston at Goodman.A small company like SEC can be hurt by losing a big customer....just an observation
-
The people at SEC told me in May that the plant in Fayetteville is not closing. I don't know if that's true or not. If it does close I'm sure they will find another customer to haul freight for. They keep me busy enough.

SEC has been in business a long time. I remember back in the day they ran 379 petes. I bet they'll be around for a while yet.
Air Breeze Thanks this. -
I agree to some extent with Arkansas but in this climate of acquisitions and mergers they may be a target..
drvrtech77 and Air Breeze Thank this. -
I agree with you tow. The big guys seem to always be absorbing the small companies.
