With the regs on offroad motors tightening up, Cat may decide to jump back in, as it will be the same tech. But the trend towards vertical powertrain integration by the manufacturers makes it less likely, as Cat's market share won't ever be what it once was.

All this time, and I just saw my first one in person this week. Just like the pictures, it looks like a toy truck!
Cat purchased EMD (locomotives, by subsidiary Progress Rail) in 2010 and they had issues getting their Tier 4 emission units up and running, which left GE taking orders and kicking their ### in the market for better than a year.
