Ok you're in Illinois. Which OTR companies have you applied to? I ask because there may be some under the radar companies that will take a chance on you. If you got a 2 year card at your size, that suggests you're in pretty good health. We gotta driver that's well over 400 lbs working for us. To be fair, he is experienced. Trucking is full of big people.

You’re going to need to find a starter company. These are the ones that’ll hire fresh new CDL holders. Typically they are carriers that are self insured.
It’s all about insurance and not every carrier can hire a new driver. Your run of the mill trucking company can’t afford the premiums for a novice driver. Getting a couple years of experience and doors will open.
The other problem with these starter companies is that you will need to have another physical through their DR and with your weight you can expect to be sent for a sleep study. This is to test for sleep apnea and it isn’t cheap.
Aside from that you shouldn’t have much of a problem unless you got a bad mvr or criminal record.
As far as the industry being short 2mil drivers..well someone lied to you because it’s pure BS.
@Chinatown can help you with finding a company. Just give some kind of idea as to the type of trucking you want..Two years OTR is the normal approach to getting the experience. After that anything is game.MidwestResident, WesternPlains, FullMetalJacket and 1 other person Thank this. -

All you need to do is find a company that runs through Illinois which is pretty much every company, lol. You take the truck home or park it in a truck stop and go home.MidwestResident, FullMetalJacket, wulfman75 and 1 other person Thank this.
