I don't understand people that only do research after they have signed up to do things. Why create chaos?
Local jobs usually have more applicants than jobs. So they pick more experienced drivers, not newbies. Some jobs like food and beverage delivery may be hard enough physical labor plus long hours that they have high turnover and they may hire less experienced drivers. The problem with local is you are always in city traffic where the cars are the majority of your problems all day, every day.

Being home, with a local job, may mean just barely 10 hours from clock-out until you clock back in. In those 10 hours you have to fit sleep, round-trip commuting, eating, shower, etc. It's better than a truck stop, but the truck stop doesn't have a round-trip commute.

Also, you can't count on the company web site's claims as being "the floor" of what to expect for miles or pay. Those company numbers are often "the ceiling" and nobody advertises realistic numbers. They always advertise best-case scenario. So when you make a decisions about giving up Schneider's "bird in the hand" to chase after "two in the bush" make sure you reduce those optimistic numbers by 20-25% and decide if chasing after 75% of the other offer is worth giving up the Schneider offer. Maybe it is, maybe it's not. I would advise you plan on working at whoever you choose for 12 months, which may feel like 2 lifetimes if you are young. It's the bare minimum for good 2nd jobs. You can always work at a worse company with less experience but you should try to always work for a better company when you change jobs, not just believe the hype about the pay and conditions the new company claims you will make. Or just become a permanent job hopper and keep working for companies that just get shadier and shadier.

THERE IS NO TRUCK DRIVER SHORTAGE so a certain job with one company may be better than giving that up to sit at home months waiting to be hired at a company with a web site that claims they pay more. Schneider has it's own sub-forum where you probably can get detailed info before making a decisions. Or you can do like 90% of newbies and flip a coin and them blame the world for your choices. It seems you might already be going down that path.

Why not call recruiting and find out yourself? A text means nothing.

Yeah, I know. Maybe the CRST recruiter made a mistake offering him a job.
