Hi I recently got my CDL end of May and am looking for a decent job that’s local in Birmingham Al area, and has a good work/life balance. I know I’m being picky with no exp, but not working 55-60+ hrs a week Mon-Fri is what I need for my family. I know they exist but it’s hard finding one. I have Class A with hazmat/tanker but have really been leaning towards dump trucks. Any advice would be appreciated

I would google businesses that run dump trucks in your area, and show up to make an application. Also cement trucks.

Job Spotlight: Truck Drivers - Jobs

According to this article, Publix warehouse personnel can apply to become truck drivers based on certain criteria. If trucking didn't tickle your fancy, you'd still your warehouse job.

    Let's see what @Chinatown suggests.

You're in Birmingham so that puts you in flatbed territory. It may be difficult to get a local job right out the gate. If it were me, I'd try to get on with one of the many flatbed companies in Alabama, then ultimately once you get some experience you could transition locally. The thing with flatbed is that it's probably the one sector of trucking that can give you some level of work life balance. It's basically M-F 8 to 4:30.

I'd try Averitt Express as well.
