    You've got the first ~third of my life on that map.
    Born in Palo Alto, then went to Fremont.
    My middle and high school days were in Pacifica.

    I miss that area, from those days.
    Not so much these days.

    Yea, way the F out in the woods. It's very cheap and we are in "bank cash" mode. Not very accessible though.

    @Truckingdaytrader --

    As I write this--I know you said that you were out of country untl late January, but this job lead will probably still be "hot"...even by then.

    Pride Transport routinely hires & coaches new CDL grads, and (from what I gather) has a good reputation here on the Forum.

    Well, they recently posted a CDL job listing--for Placerville, CA.

    If I see something truly worthwhile that's any closer -- who takes/trains new CDL grads -- I'll let you know.

    Congrats on the graduation, 1st, I think you are starting off on the wrong foot. You seem desperate and a worse scenario I can't imagine in a job like this. Of course you want to make the most money, but it doesn't work that way. New grads usually get the bottom of the barrel, as there are much more experienced drivers that get the real good paying jobs. 2 years minimum. 2nd, right away with the buying a truck, another strike. Recipe for failure. And last, who cares what you drive? Today, a truck is a truck. I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but you are going about this all wrong, and setting yourself up for disaster. You won't make it 6 months. Too harsh? Maybe, but you were clearly listening to the wrong people, at the risk of being rude, tell wifey to get working towards that MBA herself, while you are struggling to pay those "old" bills with a crappy trucking job you might hate. Can't quit, looks bad. THAT'S the real world today, sorry if it's not what you wanted to hear..

    Born and raised in the Bay Area, we spent a lot of summer in the Guerneville area in the 50s and early 60s. The Russian river area has some nice beaches.

    If you went to a good school, lots of local companies will have a list of acceptable schools that they will hire straight out of. Try that route first.

    I’m making good money (once training is over) doing local and I’m new. Yes it’s 12 hour days (half of the time) but so what? It’s only 5 days a week.

    Don’t get a truck anytime soon. Companies are paying drivers well right now, and rates/fuel sucks right now if you try to get your own truck.
