I'm getting ready to take a refresher course at the trucking school I went to last year, I'm having trouble choosing a trucking company to start with. I live in NC near Greensboro, I'm considering doing flatbed, dry van or tanker. I don't mind going OTR but would like to find something regional or dedicated to be home every 2 weeks or so at least. Could someone help me with deciding on a company. Would like to stay away from the big mega carriers, will go if the pay & home time are decent!

Howard Transportation is a private carrier owned by Howard Industries. Flatbed and has a good reputation. One of their terminals is in Kenly, NC.

Tyson Foods is a private carrier that hires in NC. Some drivers do really well there up to $60K.

    Probably Blue Line/Harris Teeter/Epes Transport/Mail Transport

A&R Transport has good home time also.

I know that some of those places require at least 1 year of experience, should I apply anyway? Is flatbed worth the extra work, I kinda deciding on tanker tho. What would be some good flatbed or dry van companies

Yes, apply anyway; doesn't matter if the website has 1 yr. exp. needed; that's not carved in stone these days.
