Wait, what?! They can just close the business down with drivers all over the country, who knows how far from home KNoWInG NOTHING about it???

You pull into the yard and are told to clean out the truck??
    Just like that?
How the hell is that legal?!

What about the drivers? What are they supposed to do if they are hundreds of miles from home? Doesn't the company have some sort of responsibility to get them home? Or at least to the nearest terminal to home??

You've got to be kidding me that this is legal to do... Please tell me its not...

I think one of my rose colored lenses just broke...:(

I don't know if it's legal but the drivers will get a settlement probably for them not giving advanced notice of the closure.
It's called the warn act. I know people who have been paid by it.

We will see what happens with this. When Preston and CF shut down each employee received around $6500-8000 depending on your seniority and vacation and what not.

Driver for 2 years? Guess you weren't around for the last one.... yes they can, and they do. Trucking companies of all shapes and sizes can, and do go out of business. Sometimes with little or no warning....

Might look a little at the operation you're working for.

Speaking of "the little operation I work for", I've been meaning to ask, what exactly constitutes a small, medium or large company? How many trucks? I always considered Total to be a "small" company running about 700 trucks....am I wrong there?

Had one driver drive by me this afternoon hammered down going north on 75 out of ATL and did not look very happy at all. The look he gave I asked myself whats his problem well I guess now I know. I was with Trism, when they closed the doors. Our divison got a msg. for us to call in. Heck they were still booking freight when the powers to be told every one to shut it down.
I will say, that we did get paid and a bus ticket or comcheck code for the price of the ticket..

I was there 11 years between starting with PST heavy haul and then the buy out.
It was a shock for all of us.
Good luck to the drivers and getting home plus finding new work
