what is wrong w/payroll???
I was thinking about putting in am application w/them b/c I have been out of a truck for going on 2.5 years, and I saw on there website they will hire you if you have experience in the last 5 years and they sound like a good company that keeps their driver's moving. Ive also done some LTL in the past. It can be good money.
Is NCT on E-logs yet?

No they are not e-logs yet but they watch you very closely on your logs. The payroll thing is that you must turn in your paperwork at either Westampton or Spartanburg. You can't fed ex, transflo, anything like that.
So you won't go without a paycheck they advance 750 gross and that goes against your trips... trust me though it still works out. The money is good here. You get to the terminal in Westampton quite a bit so paperwork should not be an issue turning in. -
There is a rumor(I repeat a rumor) that Harry might give back some of the pay cut that he hit NCT drivers with back when the fuel skyrocketed and the economy tanked. Don't hold me to that though. If fuel prices go much higher, which it looks like they will, that will not happen. Still at .456 cents a mile, it's good pay... better than probably 75 percent of the companies out there. I realize they hit hard times just like everyone else but they're in business and I have a job so things are good.

I live closer to Spartanburg, do they do orientation out of this terminal or just in NJ?

That I am not sure of... they seem to bring everyone to New Jersey from what I can tell

TO NCT PA--Just read through all the threads of the newbies (mushroom1464, looneytune, and housecat) and the old hands (sargetom & myself), keep a good attitude and work ethic and you'll be fine. Develop a thick skin because everyone from office has South Philly attitude which runs some drivers off. Just keep your wheels turning between each stop, deliver each stop as quick as you can, plan your stops on a laptop if possible, or a GPS and you'll be successful. Give it a year for you to learn everything you can about the dispatchers, the system, etc. as well as them getting to know your work. Only 10-20% make it a year, but if you make it that long, you'll probably stay for the duration. Good luck.
sw74431 (that's my number, if you see me)LooneyTune and NCT_PA Thank this. -
Just want to add my 2c.I have been here 7 months now and still enjoy working here, are they perfect absolutely not but like m ost jobs it is what you make of it.
I have tried to keep an open mind and be flexible here if you come here and do the same you will probably succeed as well,if you see trk 2723 out somewhere come up and say hi.I don't have a laptop right now and doing this with my blackberry kinda sux so I'm not here much, take care and be safe.LooneyTune and NCT_PA Thank this. -
Thanks for all the replies.
I have read and re-read the NCT related posts.
I was just curious for updates since they seemed to stop in the end of Nov.
Wanted to make sure it wasn't a case of ...
"If you don't have anything nice to say...say nothing at all"...
I just got home from returning my truck to Fargo,ND at my last employer and will be at NCT in Jersey for orientation on Mon, Feb 7th.
I'm just hoping I don't get an InterTrashional. I am 6'3", and in my past experience, they don't have much leg room.
I will post my Tk# when I have one to post.
Thanks again -
Hey Mushroom if you see 2751 out here that would be me. I'll keep an eye out for ya

Just do like Mushroom and others have said NCT PA and you will do fine. The first 90 days will be the most frustrating but once you get past that things will get to be easier. As I said before the dispatchers that do the midwest are a pretty good group of people to work with. I was just curious, are you going LTL or truckload?
