Hi folks,
New here and have some CDL questions...hope I'm posting in the appropriate area being only in the general public.
I'm in Ohio, and may be getting a job as a propane delivery driver...could be cylinders or large tank, GVW unknown. This of course will require a CDL, and to avoid being a total bonehead when I get interviewed, I'm hoping you can help me out. I've read the Ohio DMV site several times, searched here on the forum and other sites on the web, but still unclear.
1) Are there any formal classroom/permit driving hours requirements/minimums to obtain a CDL for this type of vehicle? All I seem to find when searching are tractor/trailer type schools, which I won't be driving.
2) Would this be a Class C, with X endorsement? http://bmv.ohio.gov/cdl.stm
3) For the practical test, would I take that in a propane delivery truck?
4) For the written, I can't seem to find any study guides, even on the Ohio BMV site. Do they exist, or otherwise, how do you study/know what to expect?
Apologies for my clueless questions, and thanks again for your help. I'm sure that should I get the job, all of this would be explained - however I'd like to at least have some idea before I get in the hotseat.

Your local DMV office should have a CDL manual and their website probably has a pdf manual to download. That'd be a good place to start.

1. No school required by law. If the company is going to train you on the job then you do not have to go to school. There are schools for class b and c, but it does not sound like you will need it.
2.can't say for sure without knowing gvr, but if the truck has air brakes it would be class b with x endorsment
3. If the company traines you to drive, they will provide the vehicle for the test. If you go to a private school they will provide the vehicle
4.look at the top of the page, click CDL practice tests, pretty good unofficial practice. Or go to your local dmv office they will have official study guides available -
4. Look harder, on the site you provided look under quick links. Click Ohio CDL manual and you can download the official Ohio CDL manual

Thanks much everybody! I did finally locate the manual...right under my nose but overlooked.
