They were trying to fight it a couple years ago when it came up after the truck only tolls failed. They didn’t get anywhere.

Glad the truck only toll got kicked. That would have been a major set back if it was aloud. Could you imagine how many states would try that to take away all the money.

Honestly I was almost hopeful for that, our neighboring state of Rhode Island did exactly that for the past couple of years and recently got thrown back in their face. On the other hand, they’ll probably end up turning it into tolls for everyone instead of removing them all together.

I would be letting them know on a daily basis where every pothole, crack, bump, horrible bridge joint, anything wrong with their roads, and tell them since you're helping pay the cost of the repairs, when can you see some results.

Its getting harder to keep track of all the states that do this ####. It sounds similar to what new mexico does? You have to buy a 10 dollar permit every year then file mileage every quarter with not only ifta but with new mexico state revenue dept as well... Its highway robbery... Just blow ur money into the wind and watch it fly away...

NY does look at IFTA reporting to insure compliance worse, it looks like a flat tax based on GVWR per mile.

At lease NY gives you the option of loaded weight or empty weight methods with empty weight being cheaper and the stickers are only $1.50 now thanks to the outcome of the federal case against the NY HUT.

KY and a couple other states add a surcharge in the IFTA process instead but it looks like CT looked at the remains of the NY HUT and went the same way.

I am normaly loaded when in New York so that never helps me out. If I drive in it I pretty much just say f it gonna have to pay for all miles loaded. Not sure how one would really keep track of it without creating a headache. With as little as I drive I only file once per year now. You would have to keep some good detail notes to go back and figure out. Maybe I am just to lazy to worry about it as well.

Well, you’re actually supposed to keep records in New York of empty miles, loaded miles, and Thruway miles. Because the New York State HUT does not apply if you are on the Thruway.

I may have to go pull some records this time. I think I was in New York a little more this year and would be worth the break down. Good thing about having an ELD is you can view all the driving areas on each trip.
