Sitting at work the other morning, a trucker came to the desk to check out (I work at a hotel), and proceeded to tell me about some new regulations and some sort of document consisting of 227 pages that the DOT just came out with, also exclaiming the fact that Obama doesn't want anyone on the roads anymore. This conversation started after he had seen a pic of a truck on my laptop. He asked if I was going into trucking, which I proceeded to tell him about receiving my Class A permit a few weeks ago. Could anyone here give me some details as to how factual this drivers statement to me was?

"Obama doesn't want anyone on the roads anymore" is a big red flag. I think the guy was just bendin' yer ear. You'll find a lot of this if you spend enough time in a truck stop (or on this forum) listening to the BS. I ran into a Covenant driver a few years ago. Actually encountered him on two separate occasions. The first time I saw him I think he was spouting off about the second coming or some other crap. The second time I saw him he launched into a dissertation about this new (at the time) pill called Provigil. I looked it up sometime later and found out that its a drug for treating sleep apnea. Somehow he leapt to the conclusion that trucking companies were going to require that their drivers take this drug regularly so we could all be 100 hour per week slaves. He even had extensive notes and printed material to hand out. The point is, some people get too wrapped up in conspiracy theories because they spend too much time alone with their own thoughts. These people seem to have only one purpose in life: being a "wet blanket". You'll find a few of them on this forum, as well. Try not to get sucked up their little world and you'll do just fine.
