You can get that physical damage premium way down with a cheaper truck, or just pay cash for the truck and not finance that $30k, and go naked on the physical damage. That's half your annual premium. Is the new truck really worth it?

In Colorado Progressive quoted me $3,700 a year if paid in full for $750k Bodily Injury/Property but that does not include any comp/collision for the truck.
-
People who post cheaper rate with progressive, what's your operating radius? With them it's usually under 500 miles in Michigan for the first year
-
I also found that some agents are wary of quoting new MC's, so they drag their feet (happened to me)
My agent cold called me, after my MC was issued, got me a valid, cheaper quote, in 20 mins, as compared to others who took 2 weeks ... Go figure??
Wrt to limits, Im on standard limits, with 500 mile radius. This does not mean I'm limited to 500 mile runs. He told me that as long as i do not make it a habit, then its cool (oh, and make sure i don't get DOT inspected outside of the radius, else it will be noted on renewal time, lol)
Finally, most people complain about high quotes, and dont take into account their stated vehicle values, their preferred deductibles, age of equipment, driving record etc.
I have 1 speeding ticket, 20yr old truck ($15k stated), 10yr old trailer ($9K stated), standard limits, $1000 deductible. That puts me at $1500/mo policy.Last edited: Jul 15, 2018
