Literally 5 seconds after I hit the "submit" button authorizing the $300 charge for my MC#, my phone was ringing with someone acting as if they were from the FMCSA. Their script:
"Am I speaking with X, the person who just submitted an application for authority?"
--yes
"You should be looking at a confirmation page listing your USDOT number -- 1234, your PIN, and your Docket number -- MC1234" (reads my actual numbers right to me)
--uh huh
"To complete your registration process you will need to comply with an additional 2 items: your boc-3 and your bmc-91. Your bmc-91 is the electronic form your insurance company will automatically submit. Your boc-3 is the form submitted by your process agent. Are you ready to set this up now?"
--um, wait, are you with the fmcsa?
"We can move forward with your boc-3 right away if you are ready. It will just cost $75 and it will ensure there is no delay."
--yeah no thanks, I'm a member of OOIDA
"...sales pitch continues as I shake my smartphone awake to hang up"
But seriously, I didn't even have time to read the confirmation page and my phone was already ringing! Impressive
New DOT# = Impressive spammers

You should have said your phone number was on the do not call list and you would be turning them into the FCC.
lovesthedrive Thanks this. -
Wow thats crazy , was it a private # ? Or with held #?
-
Mine did the same thing. I'm betting that some FMCSA employees are moonlighting as sales lead generators for some of these companies offering services to new DOT holders.
-
Within 10 minutes I had similar pitches from (405) 701-4173 & (334) 408-0449.
This happened way too quickly for any manual entry/referral. It had to be some sort of autodialer script. -
-
Wow , I can't believe a # actually showed up . Report their #####
-
Do you know if you're hauling intrastate if you need a mc#?
-
I just went thru the same gauntlet a couple weeks ago. Over 15 calls and/or voicemails as I stopped answering. Still get one now and then.
-
This is normal, your info is now public information, just don't pay more than 25 to 30 for your BOC-3 filing.
We use our house phone/ fax line for the listed phone contact and never answer it and use cell for all other company work.Lady K Thanks this.
