Good Day. I'm a 25/YO. just graduated from a accredited truck driving school in Baltimore,MD. I was arrested when I was 18.(08/2010) for a robbery. Since then I have been free of all charges. I completed my probation successfully.
I have two points on my license. But recently I was pulled over two times and ticketed for illegal window tint. No suspensions o. My record in last 3 years.
I was just wondering if anyone could shine some light on me as to a good company that I could possible seek employment. No CDL experience. Solid work history. No gaps. I applied for Coca Cola and was offered the driver position. But after my background and MVA report they rescinded the offer.
My charge will be 7 years old from the date of incident n august. And was wondering if that when the 7 years started or after I completed the probation (not parole).
I will Immediately apply for a twic card and hazmat endorsement once the time comes. I'm n Maryland and prefer to stay in Maryland. But if OTR is the best option. That's what I have to go with
New Driver. Background issues. PLEASE HELP!!!

You say you were arrested for robbery. Were you convicted of the felony, or were the charges reduced to a misdemeanor? I noticed you said probation instead of parole. To get your hazmat endorsement, it is 7 years from the time you were released from probation, but only if it was a felony conviction. Otherwise you can get the hazmat endorsement now if it was a misdemeanor conviction.

I can't help with the local companies, but can give you some ideas for OTR with companies that hire felons.
TransAm
USA Truck
Carolina Cargo - call and ask for Tami.
Freymiller - apply for the "Restore Program" which is described on the website. This program is for cdl grads with no experience. Really good company.
PI&I Motor Express in Masury,OH
RoadTex - one driver on here, still on parole, was hired there.
Stick with one of these for 6 mos. or longer and you're new career will be started.Oldironfan, Lepton1 and KillingTime Thank this. -

I work for Swift and had a rather serious issue in my past. They will provide training and a job. How much you make will depend on how much you run. I get paid pretty #### well.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -

I'd put Freymiller at the top of the list. Their trucks are set up for driver comfort and really nice. It's also one of the best refrigerated companies around.
