    Right now -- the best company is the one that will actually hire you (with zero experience, right out of CDL school).

    Best likely strategy: apply with the carriers that visit your class while in CDL school, & see what happens.

    For beginning drivers -- it's mostly a "take what you can get" job market right now. :(

    If you think you would like to sample different types of freight -- but without the hassles of changing carriers -- you might consider starting with Schneider.

    They have a terminal there in Charlotte.

    I've seen job ads for Schneider that have just about everything except hauling cars.

    Some jobs with Schneider now require experience, while others don't.

    It's likely that they will visit your CDL class at some point.

    Ask the recruiter what freight types are done out of the Charlotte area.
