They just called me again today. New requirements 1-2 months experience required. No more then 5 moving violations and no more then 3 preventable accidents. Somthing smells fishy. I was going to play with them but I just hung up before I got connect after the automated phone call.
New driver considering Melton. Good idea or would there be a better fit elsewhere?

I just talked to a recruiter a few days ago. My company I'm with now paid for my CDL but hasn't givin me much in the way of training since then. I told the recruiter that, and told him I still need some finishing work, mostly downshifting in the low gears. But apparently I've been driving to long to be a student, so I have to hire in as a ten month limited experience. It's a four day orientation and two weeks on the road. I'm not sure I'm at that point yet, I do one shuttle run a day, about 5 miles and do some in yard stuff daily. Any thoughts from you guys that went through their training?

Also looking into this company. Start truck school this Monday. I want to get as many pre-hires as I can before the end of the 4 wk course. Just good sense.

If you're clean, you will have them coming out of woodwork to get you. Phone ringing all day and your email inbox filled up. Read these threads on the good and bad of trucking companies. Stop at a truck stop and talk to a few truckers with the companies you're considering and then just apply with top few. I applied with Crete (turned down because my school wasn't on their approved list) I did the phone interviews with Averitt and Melton. Received offers from both but ended up choosing Melton because I felt like it would be more challenging, had a better rider policy incase my girlfriend wants to tag along sometime and I would learn valuable lessons in securing loads. Also it runs 48 states and canada allowing me the chance to explore USA while working.
If you have a questionable past, bad driving records etc, then yes, I'd agree to go with cattle call and get as many pre-hires as you can.
