This is going to be a big problem where ever you go! Your best bet is to try the small mom and pop companies. Your charges will be looked at the same as a DUI in this industry. I would say that most companies are going to tell you to come back in ten years.

I hope you haven't signed up for school yet!

    Good luck man...

Also even if you do find a job, it will most likely be some outfit that will push you to run over hours, trucks and trailers that don't pass DOT, etc. They know you can't quit as you will never find another job so they will do everything they can to make that extra dollar even (especially?) if it maens trashing your license.

As much as I'm sure you wanna high paying trucking job (ha!) it really will be better to wait 5 more years. At 7 years the convictions are not much of a problem.

You're SOL.Even though this happend 2 yrs ago, that's recent as companies and their insurance see it.I'd wait another 3 yrs then try again.

Just keep trying and don't try to hide your past. The bigger companies probably won't touch you, but if you listen to the advice your getting from some of these drivers, you'll never get a job. I have a record and its never stopped me and its a lot worse than yours. Keep looking.

You need to hire a Lawyer to look into it and try to get it wiped off.

Just wanted to add that the assault is actually the bigger issue because it shows a lack of self control when in a stressful state... this is the biggest taboo when hiring in civil service positions. This is just my opinion that I came to from previous observations.

I would have done everything I could to not have that on my record... smoking pot cannot and is not even close!

Maybe you should read some of the qualifications on companies. Some will list drug misdemeanors in a category all by itself. Funny thing about assault it's very easy to claim and thousands of people have been convicted of it like myself, and we didn't even do anything. Just some woman trying to get her husband out of the picture in most cases. So I believe the lack of common sense to run around with drugs is more frowned upon at then some dude coming home finding his wife in bed with some guy, and giving both of them the Bizzness.

This post has been approved by all the guys who have been shafted by the court system.

As you said though this is just my truckin opinion. Good for absolutely nada. Have a good day.

If it's been 10-15 years since those charges, consult a lawyer about possibly having those records expunged. I was told at the Canadian border that an arrest was on file as a conviction and that I would, if coming to Canada again, be arrested at the border. I researched their claim, got a copy of the report they obtained and took it to my lawyer. I was arrested yes, but the charges were dropped because of insufficient evidence... it showed up as a conviction.

It is now expunged along with any other old misdemeanor charges I had as a youth. It did cost a bit over $1500.00 to do all of this but my life has taken a positive turn as a result and I'm free from my 'tainted' past.

    Good luck.

Just looking for advise, not judgment. You don't know my situation, you don't know me. If you don't have any helpful advise why would you even waste your time saying anything.
