If you were offered a job as a new driver but the company encouraged you or desired you to get your Fast card would you ask them to pay for it?

IM old and Crusty, what the heck is a fast card?

The Free And Secure Trade Card, better known as the FAST Card, is part of a program designed to expedite handling of shipments through customs between the United States and Canada.
Was a new one to me also, but a quick search came up with this.

I have no real ideal for the process to get one, but it looks like a way for the government to get another fingerprint and background check from you. That will make 3 for those who have Hazmat and TWIC cards.
And to the OP yes I would ask them to pay for it. If they will not pay, then it would depend on the job.Last edited: Feb 18, 2012

Remember that unless you are moving FAST qualified freight and use the FAST lane @ Customs the card has ZERO value so why would YOU pay for it. -
From what the so called fast card is, Hell no, Ill stay local , go home everynight, NO WEEKENDS, and Make $100k.
