Stay put AND KEEP YOUR RECORD SPOTLESS until you have 1 year experience. Between now and then record what things you don't like and what things would make your next job better than what you have now. Once you have those sorted out research trucking companies and talk to drivers from those companies and ask about the items on your list. Then choose your next employer so you can leave on good terms as quick as you achieve that 1 year of experience. If the pay was a big deal you would have investigated BEFORE you chose to work for that company. You didn't do that so you now get to live with your choice. But you can and should use the time to your advantage and NEVER consider just leaving every time some company web site says something you like. That's how you get stuck working for bottom-feeding companies. Being a job hopper is a very risk move. Some people pull it off and many people find out they can't work at great companies because they switched jobs every 4-9 months are are considered a job-hopper by the good companies.

Hey thank you for your input, I think you’re right the general consensus seems to be to stay put and keep my cdl clean. Appreciate the responses.

Fantastic area to have a cdl... plenty of reefer companies hauling produce out of there..
.38 cpm is criminal.. I mean really... I started at swift at .45 cpm and that was over 8 years ago

Best thing to do as a trucker is always keep looking for a new gig. The good ones pop up for a couple seconds and then dissappear. If u aren't constantly looking, won't find it

In todays world, a year at a job seems like a death sentence, when in fact, you are in a pretty good position. You couldn't have a much better reference than Pumpkin, and .38/mile isn't the worst. Actually, it's probably quite normal for a new driver. I say hang in there too, watch your spending, and get at least a year, and above all, try to keep the record clean. A bad record will dog your career forever. Good luck.

    ducnut Thanks this.
