This type of question has probably been asked a million times but companies can change and I need current info.

I am looking for a company that hires new drivers in the Tacoma/Olympia area. I know Schneider is in Portland. I think Swift is in Sumner. I think covenant is in Tacoma but I don’t want to team drive if I can avoid it.

I want to run and make as much money as I can but gaining experience is more important for now. If I can make it home a couple of days a month I will be fine.

I’m looking for a company that has a good orientation, newer equipment, and will screw me the least.

    I appreciate any help.

Every time I find a company that sounds good I do some research and find out that they have a bad reputation. Or perhaps most truckers are natural curmudgeons?

I cut my teeth at May Trucking starting in 2009. It was a great place to start. I hit the road as a newbie on their 48 states refer division. They treated me just fine. I learned the system, got my experience in and moved on after a couple of years.

There is no panacea in trucking. It's ultimately what you make of it.

Spending hours reading reviews on TTR, from mostly disgruntled drivers, has to be done with a grain of salt.
