    Greetings from Dixie,

I hope this finds you all doing well. I am new to the trucking industry. Just got out of school and still have a week of training on my new job. I need to get a cb for my truck when it is issued to me next week. I am looking at the Cobra 29 that is blue tooth capable. I have heard some good things about the Predator 10-K antennas. Since the antenna will have to be mounted to my mirror mount can you recommend which model that I should get that doesn't pose a height problem since it is mounted so high on the rig. Don't know that I am sold on the Cobra 29. Someone told me to check out the Magnum S6. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

Why do you need a big preditor 10k for a 4 watt radio?

Keep it simple....and save your money...

I don't know that I do need a K-10. I just heard that they were good. I don't know anything about CBs. I don't know what I need. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

If you're not wanting to be a CB hero, merely be a lurker and listen for bear reports, traffic and what not just get a plain jane 29 with a francis 4 foot fiberglass antenna. I've ran a francis with my stock low output radio and with a moderately tuned radio and always found the best performance with this set up. This is merely my opinion though.

What kind of range might I expect out of that set up? 4 or 5 miles?

Depends on conditions and how much "hash and trash" is on there. If its quite...you can get 10 miles on it...truck to truck

I find I keep my squelch and rf cut back pretty good with all the bs up here on 70 in PA, so I get a mile or two but that's all I want.

fiberglass? you better carry 2 or 3 extra ones with you so you can replace them. they snap like pretzels. get a good wilson or k40 trucker antenna and you will be just fine.
