NEW DRIVER NO EXPERIENCE WHERE TO APPLY??

I feel your pain. Im new too. Nobody will take anyone with less than 6 months these days, I'm having trouble finding work too.

 

You can try the company that I was at for four years before they told me I had to get vaxxed or go on unpaid leave. SGT usually hires new drivers but, since they've been sold recently to TFI, things may be different. I made good money doing otr and, if it wasn't for the mandates, I would still be there. A LOT of that isn't due to the trucking company - but their INSURANCE company demands people with at least 6 months experience. The insurance rates for trucks right now are beyond bonkers (thanks largely to idiot juries in the US awarding humungous amounts in injury claims - see the Texas billion dollar judgment for an example) so companies can't afford to hire newbies (unless you're an immigrant, of course) unless they want to pay a whole lot more for their insurance plan.

Yes, it sucks big time. You're probably going to have to go to a mega carrier for crap wages until you get a year or two behind the wheel, then you can start being a little more picky on who you work for.

It’s definitely alot harder now then it was when i went to schneider in 2008 but your best bet is the big boys who are self insured like kriska or challenger .Unfortunately because both the canadian and American economies have gone to sh$t it’s not going to be any easier for a new guy getting hired

Just one more warning to new guys looking to get going, if you go to Highlight/Bison/TransX/Lightspeed/VersaCold-CPX/Heyl/IHaul/Day&Ross you won't make it 2 years to go somewhere better, and if you do; you want want to drive anymore. So look into better companies like Challenger/Kirska/SGT20000/Schneider/Linmar/Carmen Transport etc etc. Harder to get into, but they won't kill you.

 

Challenger is definetly not self insured and I don't know about Ktiska but I would highly doubt that they are either.
