So, i was going to go to crst, but after the horror stories i avoided them.
ended up with Schneider, which by all accounts on here is a much better decision. They are giving me 3 options: all are regional out if the Columbus Ohio area. I'm having trouble comparing the compensation versus the work etc. I'm going to put what i know of the 3 here, and poll the audience: what would you go with, and why?
1. Regional dry van. No nyc. 1800-2400 miles/wk, .36cpm. Out 5.5, in 1.5.
2. Wal-Mart dedicated. Within 350 miles of Columbus. 3-5 Stop loads out of distribution center just south of Columbus. Appears to be all live load/ unload, all night driving/ deliveries. Pay is existed to be around 45000 for a rookie driver. I talked to a few people and am getting mixed signals on what they think. If anyone has any additional info it would be appreciated.
3. Regional tanker. .46cpm, 1200-1600 miles. 5.5 out, 1.5 in. Load pay=35, unload=25 per stop, 20$ per shuttle. The miles scare me. I know a lot the pay is accessory pay, but still.... They said accessory adds about 25%... which in my calculation comes out right in line with regional dry van, which makes absolutely no sense to me. Even my recruiter thought it was crazy, but they wouldn't budge on pay. Am i missing something? More work, but less driving, same pay? What's the benefit?
If anyone has any thoughts, if love to hear them! Also, I'm not a new driver, I'm a returning driver with almost 2 years under my belt. Trying to figure out which of these is going to be the most fruitful route to take.
Thanks everyone!

Go tanker. you'll make more money.
Puppage and CrappieJunkie Thank this. -
well, I know the tanker fellas get paid better.....so, there's that
Walmart dedicated.......Wolf oughtta be able to tell you about that
Regional Dry Van.......regional means everything east of the Mississippi. And maybe you won't do NYC, but there's plenty of other crappy places you will do.
I did regional dry van and was pretty happy with it. They generally keep you running and it's easy work. The 1.5 days at home would kinda blow, but that's pretty standard.herring22 Thanks this. -
