All companies except 1099 companies have accessorial pays.
Drivers that work for 1099 companies or sit for free are doing so voluntarily. That's their choice.

They might have it, getting them to pay usually another story. If your counting unloading a trailer as extra pay not may driver want that job. Some was talking about a Dollar General dedicated run. They say you can make like$1,800 a week and only drive like 1,200 miles. You had hand unload 5 trailer at $90 each. They use rollers for unload. So you fingerprint every box.

You many have good job. Usually companies don't tell the whole story. Like they only pay detention pay only if they can collect it from the shipper or receiver. Maybe pulling a tanker has more accessory pay. Pulling van or reefer trailer not much extra pay

Walmart is good to work for. I hear about how it used to be better. But we work for pay and driving is fun. So really it's not that bad since you drive and the pay is good for going solo.

Accessory pays almost double my check sometimes.

Walmart is known for paying good. They are more difficult to get a job with. Walmart was the best paying job a drive could get. I hear starting pay is $87,000. Walmart is not like you average OTR company.

There's a guy in my neighborhood that works for them doing that and he loves it. He told me if I'm still driving a year from now let him know. lol. It's tempting because it's solo driving the pay is still great. But also it's like a regional job and I like driving across the country. If I am working out of the Walmart terminal in San Marcos TX I can't imagine my scenery would change too much.

They do more slip seating from what I hear. You have clean out your truck when you go home. Because they might give it to another driver or need to use it. If your truck needs a repair. They just have you switch trucks. Your sharing the bed with every driver used the truck before. You work the big holidays unless you have seniority. They pay the big money for that and what ever else they need you to do.

Just go to Schneider to start and get your year in.

Everyone is dog meat for the first year.

Question #1- Where do you want to be in 3 years as a professional driver? Van?Flatbed?Tankers?Local?

When you answer question #1, start someplace ( Schneider), and do not jump around job to job.
It's the same bs, with a different name on the door, and one of the best ways to cripple your career.

Keep your driving record clean, and at that 1 year mark, the door swings wide open.

It depends on your attitude and such. I don't feel like I was dogmeat my first year at all. Or my second year still being at the same place. But I guess if I sat around whining that I wasn't being paid to take a shower then maybe.

Lots of variables here...What Mega? Or who are you gonna run for? Between occasional "breakdowns",Layed over waiting on loads for 2 days etc. Will you get a hotel occasionally on hometime? Decide to hit the Casino in Wendover Nevada & get the $26 seafood buffet? If you are a Road Warrior and can " Live like a Monk on a Crusade"? Eat Piggly Wiggly Green Beans outta can in your Sleeper etc. Somewhere Between $14K to $26K is obtainable.JMO
