Trucking companies that are truly interested in training you, won’t do team driving crap. They will have the trainer sit in the passenger seat next to you while you drive. Screw that fake training team driving crap.

There are 2 different things going on here. 1. Being with a trainer for some period of time before you go solo. Most, including myself, dreaded having to go out with a trainer beforehand. However, it's actually critically helpful. Once you get a CDL, you can legally drive a rig, but you probably know almost nothing about how to run loads and manage it all. That's what the time with the trainer is supposed to teach you. If you get lucky enough to get a decent trainer, that time spent with them is priceless. I was lucky to have a great trainer, although it was rough at the very first week or so getting adjusted to his personality. After that, I had a great time and learned alot. Not EVERYTHING, I needed to learn, but enough to be able to figure the rest out. Some of my fondest memories as a trucker are during the time I spent with my trainer. Oh my God, we laughed so much. It does kind of suck being a 'guest' in someone else's truck. But, the good outweighed the bad and got me on a good footing to go solo after my time with a trainer.
Otherwise, the team driving stuff is after training. If the company your looking at requires team driving after training. IDK, I wouldn't do it.
