Great to see all of these responses on the thread here. I am hoping 3noses may point me in the right direction. From what I had heard, dual citizenship will give me the ability to pick up and drop loads within the US. I remember asking about that in school. There may be some circumstances where this may not be the case, but I am not aware of them. I think the fact that I want to go solo right away is making it more difficult for me to find the job I am wanting. I am willing to drive a great deal with limited time off and I know about the demanding nature of the job. My Uncle is an owner op in the US and he has mentored me a great deal. He is a definite road warrior and we both share a love of the road. Thanks for all of your input so far, I will keep on looking.

I think your problems go way beyond employment. I'be always wonder what dual citizenship was all about anyway. How can you swear your allegiance to two different countries? Pick one and stick with it.

kenworthcomeup... can you clarify something for me. when you say that you want to go solo right away, are you saying that even though you don't have a class 1 right now. as soon as you get it, and find a company that will hire you, you want them to send you out on your own from that point on.

Why? Any reason not to enjoy the best of both worlds?mikestime Thanks this. -

Hi bobbyt, yes, that is what I am saying. I am a good driver and looking forward to showing how safe I am and what I can do. I now have my cdl and am very happy about that. Personally, I just don't want to have to team with someone, I could see it being a nightmare, jmo. If I can find a company that will road test me and turn me loose I would be thrilled. All the best.Last edited: Jan 17, 2012

I agree with you regarding team driving. However many companies may have a training period requiring you to run with a more experienced driver to help you learn the job (there is more to it than just being able to drive the truck) and evaluate your skills as a driver. This may only take a week or so depending on the company and on you.KenworthComeUp Thanks this.
