Isn't Windy Hill a solo operation? If so you should be ok leaving the trainer to finish the run. If it's a team, not trainer/trainee, then wait until you return to Florida to quit.
They can get nasty if you jump ship on a team scheduled run.
By the time you get back to Florida your applications should already be processed at the other companies and have job offers in hand.

It's a trainer / trainee setup. They make it very clear that they aren't running teams...

    Good, tell them you quit/resign!
Submit those applications ASAP if not sooner!

Thanks Chinatown, for your help and input. I'll get those applications done as soon as I get home. Living in North Central Florida can make it a little bit of a challenge to get hired, but I will definitely learn from this experience and will be much the wiser next go-round.

    Chinatown and redoctober83 Thank this.

There's a couple of Abilene drivers that live south of I-4, so you should be good to go.

I'm verrry familiar with windy hill.

I suggest staying on the truck until you reach Eustis, and quit there.

    Good Luck

    Hey buddy,

Things may have changed but back in 2012 when Donna from Windy Hill came to my school she stated you had to pay for the fuel, trainers wages, use of their truck, lodging, and all other costs associated with training if you didn't stay for that year so it may be more money then you think.. I don't know if they'll actually come after you or not with legal actions ??

Does Cypress out of Jacksonville still hire trainees ? I know it's flatbed work but they claim it's 100% no touch and mostly drop and hook,

Yes, they hire new cdl grads. They've cracked down with Elogs and driver facing cameras.

I second this...pride is good I know Brian (recruiter) with them if you want his email just don't believe that you get a fridge or satellite TV or inverter....you gotta cut your teeth a little.....but Jeff England is a good cat. Clean trucks. Good miles. My CDL instructor drives for them and loves it.
