I just started out with a company that runs the NorthWest region and I'm being paid 23% of what the truck makes minus .8% of the fuel. Here is my first settlement I received. This company seems like they have my back and seem trust worthy and they have been really nice to me. I trust they are paying me well for a new driver and I they gave me a brand new Petterbilit to drive. I just wanted to ask if I have a great deal going and I think I do. Thanks

It depends on what you are having to do to earn that money.

12 days grossing $1200, might as well be a security guard and stay home everynight

Well I drive some really dangerous roads in Idaho and use no less then 12 to 15 straps a load. I also tarp about 40% of the time. I'm home every weekend. I haul mostly maxi lumber loads out of Idaho.

How much are you actually taking home after taxes and health insurance etc?. Divide that by miles driven, hours worked tarping and untarping etc and then compare that to what you could earn with other companies where you don't have to do those things or drive on dangerous roads.

Of course if you just like the challenge and are happy with what you earn then no need to ask what anyone else thinks. :)

I don't know how are wages in Idaho, but in Midwest until this fall it was 300-350 per day for flatbed drivers, now it's super slow. So if you make 1200 for 6 days I guess it's not too bad nowadays

Ok thanks, I will try your formula and calculate it. I do like the challenge I just want to make sure I'm compensated for risking my life hauling maxi loads up and down mountains all winter long.

Just to be clear, are you paying 8% or 0.8% of the cost of fuel? Usually a company driver does not pay for any fuel or other operating costs.

Overall, if you are generating about $200 a day gross pay as a new driver, that's not bad.

    jammer910Z and Sneakerfix Thank this.
